ODDBALL CUSTOM RECYCLED GUITARS AND MORE
What we do:
We recycle old instruments and give them new life. We start with any repairs, cleaning, adjusting, and other TLC needed to get the instruments back into perfect working order. Rather than simply restoring them to their former glory, we hand-paint them with custom artwork to truly give them a new life. The end result is a custom instrument that is eco-friendly, affordable, and truly unique.
The artist:
My name is Tom Dauenheimer and I am a painter and illustrator originally from upstate New York. I received my BFA in Fine Arts from Pace University in NYC. After spending some time working as an artist, I became gravitated towards painting on guitars. I have played guitar since I was 11 years old. My dad had a wood shop so growing up I was able to do all my own repairs on my own instruments. As a guitarist I found people wanting to give me their cheap old starter guitars instead of throwing them away. At some pointed I decided it might be fun to try painting them. One thing led to another, and now I love finding beat up old instruments and making them better than they were before. I am an environmentalist in many aspects of my life, and realized that repairing and painting old instruments would be a great way to recycle and bring something really unique, fun, and budget friendly to the used market.
IMPORTANT!
There are some things you should know if you are considering buying an Oddball custom instrument.
1. Many of these instruments have been repaired. If there has been any major repair or replacement of parts they will be listed in the product info.
2. These instruments are refinished by hand with paints and brushes. Rather than a flawless factory-finish, you will see texture and brushstrokes that give the finish a hand-made feel. If you are looking for instruments that have been meticulously restored to perfection, Oddball guitars may not be for you!
3. All of our instruments are listed on my Reverb page at reverb.com/shop/oddball . Please visit there to see more pictures and detailed info about all of our products.
